English summary: By reprinting selected studies of the Corpus Johanneum, the first part of this volume documents Hartwig Thyen's long road in dealing with the Fourth Gospel. To begin with, he was oriented more toward the supposed genesis of the Gospel than he was toward the interpretation of the text which had been handed down. It was this research which induced him to write the Commentary on John (Handbuch zum Neuen Testament). The second part of this book provides analyses of theories of the sources and of the attempts of literary criticism to distinguish between supposedly secondary levels and the original Evangelist's work. Since however all these studies are oriented primarily toward the presumed development of the Gospel instead of toward the Gospel itself, they became separate elements within the Commentary on John during the course of the work. They do however not only illustrate the way of reading John in the Commentary; they also substantiate their prerequisites in the analysis of the controversial secondary literature. German description: Durch den Wiederabdruck ausgewahlter und bereits an anderen Orten publizierter Studien zum Corpus Iohanneum bietet der erste Teil dieses Bandes eine Dokumentation von Hartwig Thyens langem Weg im Umgang mit dem vierten Evangelium. Dieser Weg begann 1948 in Rudolf Bultmanns Marburger Seminar und folgte in seinen ersten Etappen sehr eng den Spuren des verehrten Lehrers. Hartwig Thyen war mehr an der vermeintlichen Genese des Evangeliums, an der literarkritischen Rekonstruktion seines mutmasslich ursprunglichen Textes und den Intentionen von dessen Autor orientiert als an der Auslegung des uberlieferten Textes und an dessen intentio operis . Seine Forschung mundete schliesslich in den Johanneskommentar (Handbuch zum Neuen Testament). Der zweite Teil dieses Bandes bietet Auseinandersetzungen mit Quellentheorien und mit den vielfaltigen literarkritischen Versuchen, vermeintlich sekundare Schichten von dem originaren Werk des Evangelisten als redaktionelle Hinzufugungen zu unterscheiden. Da aber alle diese Studien sich primar an dem mutmasslichen Werden des Evangeliums statt an diesem selbst orientieren, sind sie im Zuge der nicht mehr primar analytischen, sondern vielmehr integrativen Kommentierung des Evangeliums im Laufe der Arbeit immer deutlicher zu separaten Teilen innerhalb des Johanneskommentars geworden. Sie werden hier jedoch veroffentlicht, weil sie die im Kommentar praktizierte Art der Johanneslekture nicht nur illustrieren, sondern deren Voraussetzungen in der Auseinandersetzung mit der kontroversen Sekundarliteratur vielmehr begrunden.
