The monograph is designed to provide and refresh a number of critical concepts related to student development. After a brief Introduction, the monograph begins with discussion of the context of student within the history of higher education, understanding of core traits, characteristics of student, key definitions, review of student development theories including the four schools. Other noteworthy theories of John Dewey, Bloom's Taxonomy, Maslow's Hierarchy, the WCurve and the Doctrine of In Loco Parentis are also reviewed. It then discusses History of Student Affairs, traces the Evolution of Student Development, gives a complete idea of Developmental Needs and throws light on Holistic Student Development. Fundamentals of Student Development, underlying principles thereto are next discussed and a Student Development Checklist is also given.
