The events that provoke stress are called stressors, and they cover a whole range of situations-everything from outright physical danger to making a class presentation or taking a semester's worth of your toughest subject. We all experience episodic stress - getting ready for a major exam, completing an important paper, perhaps getting ready for an important interview. However, a continuous "state" of stress should not become a way of life. A student's life in India is subjected to different kinds of stressors, such as the pressure of academics with an obligation of success, uncertain future and difficulties envisaged for integration into the system. These students face social, emotional and physical and family problems which may affect their learning ability and academic performance. Some of them find it hard to cope with the stress and lag behind, while others see the pressure as challenge to work harder.
