Serving with the 2/7th Battalion Don Watt saw action in Palestine, North Africa, Greece and Crete where he was finally captures and transported to imprisonment in Germany, followed by transfer to Stalag 357. After several short periods of freedom, he managed to stay on the run for 3 weeks and refused to disclose details of his escape under torture. His punishment for silence was Auschwitz-Birkenau. 50 years on he finally came to terms with his experiences and here reveals the full story.
