Gemma was born in West Cumbria, one of the most radioactively-contaminated areas in the world. Susan became more and more convinced that radiation from the nearby Sellafield plant where her husband worked was the cause of Gemma's disease. This book recounts Susan's public battles, her anger and sorrow and her struggle to have the hazards of nuclear reprocessing plants eliminated. Gemma died in 1990 at the age of six.
