I always have felt that the only way one can be an interesting writer is to lead an interesting life, and so while I was writing this book I travelled all over Western Canada, I went to Hawaii twice, as some may note in my poems of those beautiful islands. I also spent a great deal of time studying poetry by reading it and listening to it, as well as attending workshops, poetry recitals and even poetry slams and poetry competitions. Edmonton is a great place to be a writer-it is way too cold to do much else in the winter months, and I hope that fact is reflected in how you feel about my favourite form of creative expression.
