This book covers all aspects of theater, from acting and directing to technical theater and advertising. It also has some history. I really like the boxes with timetables on when certain activities should be done to prepare for a play. A lot of things don't change in theater, and this book gives really good information on them. That said, the sections on light and sound boards/equipment are really quite dated. Since that is the sort of information I particularly wanted, I will have to find a more recent book or books on that area. However I believe the sections on set construction are really good. The theory for lighting and sound design is there, but the actual equipment you use, particularly in the booth, may be more modern. I believe my edition even showed a reel-to-reel tape player for sound effects.
