A 1995 reprint of this comprehensive collector's reference work on Staffordshire Portrait Figures, richly illustrated with colour plates. 62 colour plates. Collated complete. Surgeon Rear-Admiral Patterson David Gordon Pugh (1920-1993) was an orthopaedic surgeon in the Royal Navy and a prolific collector of Staffordshire portrait figures and naval ceramics. He eventually sold his collection of Staffordshire figures to the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent, where it is now known as The Pugh Collection of Victorian Staffordshire Figures. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in lovely condition. Dust wrapper is sunned at the front edges of the wrap; a small corner of the rear is also sunned. A small closed tear to the front of the wrap, along with some slight wear to the extremities. Otherwise colour is good. Internally, firmly bound with very bright and clean pages. A small tear to the rear paste down. Fine.
