I have recently become hooked on Carolyn Hart's "Death on Demand" mysteries (as well as her Henrie O. series). Ms. Hart's writing style is easy, fun, and full of the flavor of South Carolina. I especially enjoyed this mystery because I like genealogical components to storylines - and this had a lot of emphasis on family, genealogy, and traditions - essentially, it covers the ties that bind (and kill...). Ms. Hart creates believeable characters - ones that eat chocolate to calm nerves, or thump canes to get attention, or write dull pamphlets emphasizing the glory days of "the family". Each character is someone we can instantly identify or relate to - none seem contrived. Overall - it's a good book, and even though it's mid-series, a new reader could pick it up and know exactly what is going on with the characters without feeling like s/he is being fed back story.
