A novel way to approach science fiction - incorporating fictional characters as interactive personae! If you want to keep your fictional heroes pristine, don't read this book. But if you like relatively non-violent mysteries with a twist, then read all of this series by Fforde (he says that's the name he was born with.) Great light reading.

I recommend this book highly. It is very entertaining, as are all of the Fforde books I have tried so far. This one does require the reader have some background in English literature and history (it helps to know who Hamlet is/was, for instance.) I would, however, recommend reading "The Eyre Affair" first. There are a number of references in "Something Rotten" that were introduced first (and maybe a little more clearly) in the earlier book.
