Beverly Jenkins is an author and an historian. She effortlessly entwines historical facts with the story line.She captures you from the begining with her ablitiy to make you visualize the characters and their circumstances. Ms. Jenkins returns the readers to the all african american town of Henry Adams,Kansas. The readers are caught up onthe lives of her charactes from her previous books: Night Song , Topaz and The Tamming of Jessie Rose. Neil July was introduced in The taming of Jessie Rose and his story is told in intriguing detail.Olivia and Neil's story is filled with adventure and passion. Olivia's character is strong educated and independant and drawn to the sexy outlaw Neil July. Will these two head strong people be able to overcome both personal and legal obstacles on their road to love? Well you'll just have to read this wonderful book and find out!!
