Works such as Of Human Bondage , "The Letter," The Painted Veil , "Rain," The Razor's Edge , and others were produced multiple times, with starring roles sought by actors like Bette Davis, Gloria Swanson, Greta Garbo, Lionel Barrymore, Charles Laughton, and Bill Murray.
