Author Ken Wadness hiked the AT southbound from Maine to Georgia in the 1990s. Thus, he had a very long, solitary hike, talking with God many times daily, which he constantly shares with the reader, for better or worse. This is almost a coffee-table book, big with lots of big beautiful photos; many fill double-page spreads. Wadness had many high points and many struggles, which he describes for the reader. Some are his own fault, as when he suffers from too-heavy pack or too-long-mileage days. But many hikers have done the same. His writing style is dry and somewhat pedantic; I would have enjoyed more humor. But if you are an AT enthusiast, you may appreciate this book and place it on your coffee table with your others. I did.
