In order to create more variety, Simon Sheppard has set some of these stories in rather unbelievable situations involving some unbelievable people. One wants more humanity, less in the way of situational hijinks. When will porn writers learn that "a story to appeal to each taste" winds up being a book in which only one story will appeal to any given reader? I think that most readers will like "Three Places in New England," however. A very tall guy who wants to protest societal follies and wears aging briefs over his uncircumcised member has a kind of eternal quality to it, proving that sexuality can meet collegiate rebellion in unexpected ways. One wants more genuine sodomy, less quirkiness in most of the stories, however.
