Yet, another obstacle Bernette would strive to understand and overcome. In the midst of trying to understand her life, Bernette was soon given a surprise-becoming a teen parent at the age of 16. Though to some this may have been too much for a young lady to handle, to Bernette it was proof that her life had a bigger meaning. She now had no choice but to pick up the pieces of her life and put them together to love her child.After becoming a teen mother, life would not get that much easier, but it would teach Bernette lessons along the way on what it means to love, to forgive, and how to let go of her past.
