Snowblind is the true story of Zachary Swan, an American smuggler, whose intricate and ingenious scams made him one of the most revered and legendary figures in the cocaine world of the late Sixties and Seventies. For a few breathless years he ran rings around the police and customs officials. From New York to Colombia, Swan enthusiastically plied his trade. Robert Sabbag's riveting account of Swan's brief career provides a compulsive insight into the cocaine underworld in which all the double-dealing, crazy characters and over-the-shoulder paranoia are captured brilliantly. The result is one of the funniest and most illuminating books about drugs ever written ... a genuine underground classic. This new edition is published as a companion to Robert Sabbag's blockbusting new book on pioneer marijuana smuggler Alan Long, Smokescreen, and comes with a specially commissioned introduction by another legendary smuggler: Howard Marks, aka Mr Nice.

Robert Sabbag is just one of those writers that a person such as myself is just thrilled to find. I read "Smoke Screen" which I found in my local library and was amazed at how good this writer is!! For some of us who grew in the years when these things took place there is a connection and certainly a fascination regarding this subject matter. Robert Sabbag is a rare find. Notice I gave him 5 stars on my overall rating and that is because since there are no 1/2 stars rating I chose 5 stars instead of 4, because I rather go up on Mr. Sabbag than down. Snow Blind is every bit as good as the other title I had read and I am very happy I bought it at Alibris. Growing up in the sixties, the seventies, the eighties a person like me can always appreciate the subject matter. There is great talent being displayed and so many funny observations that like I said, it is a rare find. I wonder what Mr. Robert Sabbag is up to now. This is the kind of writer I would not hesitate a second to purchase a new book from. He is very knowledgeable on the subject matter to say the least. Those days were indeed wild and people that became active players were some characters worth the story! I find this book cutting edge, vibrant journalism, like being transported to the scene of the crime, If I may. Mr. Robert Sabbag's Snow Blind gets a definite 4.5 stars for its accurate, intense story telling and fine sense of humor! A great book any way you look at it!
