As you flip the pages of this book, they alternate between illustrations that are two pages wide, and two pages of text. I thought that this would be a problem for young listeners, because they wouldn't have anything to look at while I read, but it has worked out quite well. My children listen in rapt silence while I read, without having to jostle for a better view of the book, and then sit and absorb the beautiful illustrations while giving me a chance to take a break from reading aloud, which also gives them an opportunity to ask questions without interrupting me while I'm reading. My husband and I have also enjoyed this Grimm version of Snow White. It conveys the envy that consumes the Queen, her many plots to destroy Snow White, and her simple, but final, punishment at Snow White's wedding, giving the reader the chance to experience the full spectrum of emotions that the story is meant to evoke. This book was a gift for my four year-old daughter's birthday, and she loves it!
