Of European Troops The result of his observations respecting this formidable disease, the Author now Offers with deference to the Profession, and only laments his inability to do more justice to the subject. His only Object has been, to give an unadorned statement of facts exclusively he trusts, therefore, to the indulgence of the Profession, and assures them that they have been derived from close and attentive Observa tion at the bed-side of the patient, made in the daily, and he may say hourly, performance of his duty. If he Shall be so far fortunate as to succeed, even in the slightest degree, in throwing any additional light upon this interesting subject, he will feel amply re warded for the trouble he may have taken, and the anxiety which necessarily arises in the mlnd Of 'one unaccustomed to give his Opinions to the public. But in attempting this, he is endeavouring to discharge a duty which he Owes to the service to which he belongs, and which it has a right to expect from him, as a return for the Opportunities he has enjoyed.
