They accordingly became the nominal recipients of some folhetos, which I heard their father reading aloud till late at night--having become, as he informed me in the morning, very much interested in them. Before proceeding farther with the events of the evening, I must mention that in the course of the day we had come up with three horses belonging to Pacifico, which he said he had sent forward the day before, on their way to the Recife for cargo.
