Seller's Description:
Introduction by John W. Caughey. Pp. xxiii, 145. Cloth-backed black and yellow decorated boards. A fine copy. Buffum came to California with Stevenson's Regiment of New York Volunteers. Originally published in 1850, this work is one of the earliest authentic personal accounts of the California diggings. This edition expands upon the first printing with an informative introduction by John W. Caughey. It also includes the list of errata from the first edition that was never published because the author did not have a chance to review the manuscript before publication, and includes some corrections of fact by the editor in the introduction. [Kurutz: 97-d].
