Six For the Road is a varied collection of short stories with something which should please everyone. In AAAA we meet an older man who has decided to forget about practicality and follow a life-long dream; He opens a detective agency. From there we meet a traveling salesman who makes one final trip from the present to the past making his Last Appointment. In the story Recompense for the Innocent we meet a very bad man, a serial killer, who at last meets his final disposition at the hands of his own target. Next the reader will spend some time puzzling over the Mysterious Mrs. Noonan an elderly lady with a well guarded secret pursued by two curious children who follow their instincts to an unusual conclusion. In the story Whom the Gods would Destroy we meet a man who is forced to revisit a tragic day in his distant past only to have the memory be more than he expected. The last entry is a story entitled On a Midnight Clear. A young man orphaned at an early age is released from the orphanage and takes an usual job to finance his education. He finds much more than he bargained for and in the end meets with an unforeseen result for his efforts. This varied group of stories will delight, frighten, amuse and leave the reader with an afterglow of satisfaction. Six For the Road will be well worth the journey.
