VG. With notices of the topography and history of the province. 422 pp, Penzer p 40. Burton worked with the Bombay Army survey and eventually traveled to the annexed Sindh province in 1851. Bound in terra cotta cloth with blind triple border enclosing blind oval design on both covers. Gold lettering. The book has been scarce almost since it was published. Sindh is today's Pakistan. VG copy in orig. cloth. Large folding map (not called for) pasted neatly opposite title page. Bookplates of Mission House library inside front cover and Political Department nicely written on title page. Little soiling upper left hand part of spine. Rare in original cloth.
