Seller's Description:
Used: Acceptable. Size: 0x0x0; Condition good, clean. A study of the life and work of Cleobury Mortimer's most famous author. Simon Evans was born in Wales in 1895 and didn't move to Cleobury until well after the Great War. He had been badly gassed in the trenches and found the smoky air of the city very damaging to his health. Looking for a new start in the country in 1926, he was fortunate enough to be able to exchange his city round with a postman who lived in Cleobury. He became very familiar with the Shropshire countryside and in about 1929, he started writing and broadcasting, describing his work in the country and telling stories of the people he met. In 1931 his most famous book appeared-"Round about the Crooked Steeple".
