This book covers aspect of the Shotokan that usually are not present in this kind of document. The author presents a well documented story about the Okinawan society before the foreign powers put an eye over it. However the book goes from that higher analysis level to a more simplistic point of view in the discussion of the art. But in an overall rating it deserves the 4 stars.
