There is a discrepancy in the way in which women are treated in society that seriously impacts their ability to find success and happiness. Merely because of their gender, they get a different set of expectations at birth than their male counterpart. Negative stereotypes towards women shaped the decisions that were made for us throughout history, and those same stereotypes continue to influence current attitudes that men hold towards women and that women often hold towards themselves. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I have seen woman struggle with issues such as fatigue from trying to be responsible for all the household chores and all the childcare while they work full-time with no help from a spouse. I have seen women who have been sexually and physically abused by their fathers and then ended up with husbands who treated them just as badly. These two examples are not isolated cases. There are too many women who are living this way. In this book I explain some typical ways in which others treat women and how women also treat themselves that cause them stress and unhappiness. I also explain ways to change the perception of yourself so that you don't fall into the trap of stereotypical thinking or acting that causes you to act contrary to your true self. If you are a woman you might identify with one or more of these stereotypes. It is my hope that more and more women will gain respect and love for themselves and other women as well. My goal for this book is to inspire women to drop the negative stereotypes that keep them back from experiencing the fulfillment of their dreams.
