We pick-up with Sharpe in the Mountains trying to get away from the French. This edition is exciting and somewhat unpredictable, though of course there is always the beautiful women. I enjoy the series very much because it provides some insight into the real life actions of the battles fought. So often we only read about the Generals and the overview of the battles themselves that we tend to become insensitive to the REAL costs of war in lives lost or altered forever.
If you've gotten this far in the series your not likely to stop here, read on and enjoy.
Sharpe is not Hornblower but he is an interesting character that seems to do the "right" thing despite himself.
