And what a day that wili be, when the kingdom shall come wholly to you! when there will not be those divided affections;--such a strong and holy desire this way, --such a strong and evil temptation the other way! Those desks o yours could tell something of the struggles you have to keep possession of that kingdom at all but nothing made with hands, nothing earthly, will ever see the blessedness of the day when that kingdom shall be wholly given, because it is wholly your Lord's. Or, if you like to take it in the other sense, "the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem,"--that happy kingdom of perpetual peace; that city in which are the many mansions; that land where the voice of the everlasting Turtle is heard. Ah! if you only think of that kingdom, you will not wonder that the prophet should go on as he does: "Now, why dost thou cry out aloud?" What! are all these things too much to endure for His sake Who is chief among ten thousand, and altogether lovely? What! is not His own way to be fulfilled?"
