User wear: curled at corners bottom & top front. Dark grey stain top corner back cover. This is not one of the 26 copies numbered & signed by both Mathews and, illustrator, Alex Katz. But considering there are (as I type) 4 of these listed on a popular bookselling website, this personalized copy stands out. Mathews took the time to write this short gracious inscription for this one 'John', while visiting Palo Alto for reasons, not known.
