Near fine. 1st Edition. viii, 297; vi, 309pp. 12 mo. A beautiful example of Zanesdorf binding in full polished calf with five raised bands, black title label, gilt decoration and lettering to spine. Front and back boards bordered on all sides with three gilt lines and corner tools. Crisp, beautiful marbled endpapers; original blank blindstamped covers and gold gilt lettered spine bound in at the back. Half title page present in both volumes. Spine slightly faded. TEG. A very attractive set indeed. near fine Penzer p. 39 lists the book as very rare. With G.R. Nicolaus' engraved bookplate and initialled morocco label 'GRN' to front pastedowns of both. Back free endpapers have stickers from 'The Seven Bookhunters', a New York book search company profiled in the Nov. 8, 1952 issue of the New Yorker.
