Scientists Since 1660 provides substantial bibliographical information on over 1100 biographies of scientists whose careers began either during or after the burgeoning of modern science, marked by the founding of the Royal Society in 1660. It excludes those working in medical science and includes only biographies or autobiographies written in English. In her introduction, Leslie Howsam discusses the ways in which the bibliography highlights developments in both the history of science and the history of the book. The entries are arranged chronologically and there is an appendix which groups scientists according to their specialisms. Two further appendices give a list of publishers and an index of the various series in which some of the biographies appeared.
