The virtuoso violin part of the Fantasie in C major, D. 934, lies easily under her fingers and bow. Perhaps even better is the less common Violin Sonata in A major, D. 574, composed in 1817. In this ambitious four-movement work, Schubert did not quite have Beethovenian models to follow; Beethoven went directly from his modest earlier sonatas to the radical Violin Sonata No. 9 in A major, Op. 47 ("Kreutzer"), and the structure and the balance between the instruments here are Schubert's own.
