Season 3 of the trailblazing late-night comedy series boasts a plethora of popular bits, courtesy of the Not Ready for Prime Time players (Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Laraine Newman, and Gilda Radner) and a string of talented hosts. The most notable change is the pairing of Aykroyd with Curtin on "Weekend Update," as they engage in comedic "Point/Counterpoint" debates ("Jane, you ignorant slut"). The season also introduces Radner's Roseanne Roseannadanna; the Nerds; Father Guido Sarducci (Don Novello); and the Aykroyd-Belushi musical tandem, the Blues Brothers. Classic bits include Belushi as a decathlon champion who endorses little chocolate donuts, and the bittersweet "Don't Look Back in Anger," in which Belushi's elderly self dances on the graves of his SNL cohorts. The season also features three visits by frequent host Steve Martin. In the season premiere, Martin and Aykroyd introduce the "wild-and-crazy" Czech brothers, who are always-clumsily-on the make; in his second stint, Martin tours the homes of his "close personal friends"; and in the third he performs the zany "King Tut." Other ringmasters include former cast member Chevy Chase; Madeline Kahn; Hugh Hefner; Charles Grodin (who turns in a funny impersonation of Art Garfunkel aside the real-life Paul Simon); Ray Charles, who also sings several songs; Buck Henry (twice); Garfunkel; Christopher Lee; Michael Palin; Richard Dreyfuss; and the winner of the show's first-and last-"Anyone Can Host" contest, 80-year-old Miskel Spillman. Musical guests include Ashford and Simpson, Jackson Browne, Jimmy Buffett, Elvis Costello, Billy Joel, Meat Loaf, Taj Mahal, Eddie Money, Willie Nelson, Randy Newman, and Bonnie Raitt.
