8vo. Blue cloth with gilt, black and red lettering and decorations. 83pp, (16pp ads). Frontispiece, 5 full-page line drawings. Very good. A bit edgeworn and rubbed, with delicate inner hinges expertly, archivally strengthened, thus tight; contemporary nonauthorial gift inscription on inner flyleaf. Early printing of this 1888 children's tale, expanded in 1905 into "A Little Princess, " one of Burnett's most popular tales.
