Sallis gets to the marrow of life through a sparse, melancholy narrative style, and the protagonists in these two series are haunting and memorable. "SALT RIVER" is a very worthy addition to the John Turner series. Sallis' novels get under your skin and lodge there. They represent an entirely unique permutation of the mystery novel genre.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
