The people of the country havingheard of it came together from all sides, both great and small, and King J orund's men were overwhelmed by the multitude and his ships were cleared. He himself leapt overboard and began to swim, but they laid hands on him and brought him to land, and King Gylaug reared a gallows, and led Jorand thither and hanged him on it. This was reported by Thiodolf in the Ynglingatal (op. Cit., ch. And probably was derived by Eyvind from that poem. I do not understand Vigfusson's note on this verse. (see Op. Cit., i.
