The title and repertory on this release by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and conductor Lan Shui recalls the 1950s and '60s golden age of classical music, with top-notch acoustics married to audience-pleasing favorites. Russian Spectacular also has another aspect, though: made in 2018 (not 2020, as stated in some online sources), it was one of the last albums made with the orchestra by conductor Lan Shui at the end of his 22-year tenure.
