The book "Romy's Walk" by Peggy Stoks is a very good christian romace book. Romy Schmitt is a school teacher who is hit by a runaway horse and wagon. Romy is secretly in love with Jerimiah Landis, who is the towns shopkeeper, who has never talked to Romy. When Romy is hit infront of his store, Jerimiah sends for the doctor who is a drunk. The doctor brings his lay friend, who is an Indian, to the store where Jerimiah took Romy. Romy delerious with pain tells Jerimiah that she had hoped to tell him that she loved him and wanted to marry him. Jerimiah then askes for a preacher to marry Romy, thinking it is her last wish because she is bleeding perfusley. The doctor is forced to amputate Romys leg. Romy is then taken to the doctor's house where his live in woman Annie takes care of Romy. Jerimiah closes the store early sp he can get back to the doctors house to claim Romy's body. When he gets back to the doctor's house Annie tells Landis to come to the room where his new wife is. when he goes into the room he notices that Romy is breathing. Romy stays at the doctors house until she is strong enough to travel. Jerimah and Romy live together in a house that Jerimiah bought for them. Romy is at the begging very bitter about having her leg amputated but she then learns to accept it. Jerimiah and Romy slowly learn more and more about each other. Finaly after starting to act like normal married people Romy finds out about Jerimiah's secret. She find out that he was married before to a woman named Tara. While The newlywed are in a fight annie comes to the house with a man that has been looking for landis to come home cause his father is sick. Annie is also terminally ill. while Jerimiah is gone annie dies, Romy (Who was teaching loses her job having finding out she is expecting a baby, and fell while wearing her fake leg). Jerimiah at home is accused of killing his first wife, but his former mother in law produces a note stating that Tara was suicidal. Jerimaih is free to go. he and his parents go to where Romy's parents are and introduce themselves arranging for her parents to go and visit Romy. Her parents visit and Romy tells them she wants to go home. Later they go to a dance and Jerimiah shows up and Romy parnets tell him that Romy is pregnant. Jerimiah finds Romy and the go for a walk and she falls but she gets back up and gets rid of her crutch. The book sends with romy writing a letter to Olivia one of Romy's Friends. All in all I really enjoyed this book. I reread this book over and over again. I think I have read this book about 10 or more times. I would recomend this book to anybody who loves great, clean romance books.
