The growth of the City and the removal of ancient landmarks in the interval since the first edition appeared, have rendered necessary many additions and alterations. Doubtless there are errors that remain uncorrected. It is hoped, however, that the volume provides - brought up to date - a Vaa'e Macaw which the explorer of Edinburgh can take with him on his walks, or profitably peruse at the fireside.
