Douglas Moo does an excellent job with this commentary. In the greater spectrum of the church, Moo is a conservative scholar who takes Scripture (as we all should) as the inspired, infallible word of God. But of course that is not all! He is an extremely capable scholar, who presents his material in a considerate and easy to understand format. The overall flow of the book, together with the significance of the details, is brought forward very clearly. The only down side is that the application section of the commentary seems in some sections a little stretched. Other than that if you are interested in getting to the heart of Romans, or preaching it, this is one book to have on your shelf. The only reason I would tell you not to buy this book was if you desired its heftier and more exhaustive brother "The Epistle to the Romans" (also by Douglas Moo, in the NICNT set). Although both are excellent, the Epistle to the Romans should be purchased should you have a love for delving in to the particulars of the Greek grammar, etc. For the rest, this commentary will serve just as well, and save you some change!
