Excellent book. As always, I recommend Saylor's novels to anyone with an interest in Republican Rome and a taste for mystery.
It isn't easy to write mysteries based on histoty, when we already know the outcome, but Saylor does a fine job of keeping the reader guessing nonetheless.
Not quite the fully-fleshed out portraits of the people and events of the time found in Colleen McCullogh's wonderful Masters of Rome series, beginning with The First Man In Rome, but well worth the read.
