Seller's Description:
Very Good in Good jacket. First American edition. Cover illustration by Salter. Translated from the Russian by Norbert Guterman. Octavo. 510pp. Moderate wear and soil, with the lower corner of the cover bumped and a couple of tiny holes in the cloth at the edges, very good in a good only dust jacket with shallow losses, a sunned spine, and some rubbing and foxing. Publisher's complimentary copy, with a typed letter signed by Muriel Lawrence of L. B. Fischer, recommending the book to Smith College professor of Russian language and literature Helen Muchnic, for her students "at the recommendation of Miss Marguerite Harrison of the V shop." Marguerite Harrison is likely the American socialite, spy, and journalist, although we are unsure about the "V shop."
