Â Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece, six double sided monochrome plates and a folding map to the rear. Collated complete. This work was written by missionary and archaeologist Neville Jones, who was ordained in 1909 and was appointed a missionary at Hope Fountain near Bulawayo, where this work was published, in 1912. His archaeological interests began to develop with his discovery of an important early stone age site at the Mission the following year and he went on to play the leading role in the early development of Stone Age archaeology in Zimbabwe. This work provides a study of the Rhodesian Pioneers and the history of Zimbabwe. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally smart with fading to the spine, marks to the boards, including a damp stain to the rear, and shelf wear. Front hinge starting. Lacking front free endpaper with a a bookseller's label to the front pastedown and light spotting to the rear endpapers.
