From this ini tial sample, there were two outright refusals, and four firms disqualified themselves because they were no longer involved in manufacturing. The firms were distributed among 12 industries (table 1) and are representative only of those 12 industries. One must be cautious in generalizing the findings to all of Irish industry, but in many respects the results have stabilized and the author would be very surprised if any major changes result from the addition of the remaining 14 industries.
