The proposal was at first countenanced by the Legislature, and a sum of money, it is believed, actually voted by Parliament, for carrying it into effect; but Whether the enthusiasm excited by the battle of Waterloo was allowed to cool, or some unforeseen obstacle occurred, the scheme was ultimately abandoned, no far ther proceedings having taken place.
