And in Archbishop John Hamilton his charter of these lands to John Shevez, dated January 13, 1554, the fee is but five merks, with this clause: ' Cum ad hoc servitium marescallatus ex parte nostra, et succeslbrum "nostrorum requisiti fuerint, alioqui post decursum quorumlibet no"vem annorum, continuie feudi firmam duplicare tenebuntur." And among the English mention is made of constabularii regni, castri, hundreds dredi, et villae; quin etiam constabularii classis regiae, iidem qui Adniirajli.
