Frisian composer Reijnold Popma van Oevering is chiefly remembered for his innovations in Baroque church music in the Netherlands, though his influence also extended to keyboard music. His Six Suites for keyboard, Op. 1 were published by Etienne Roger in Amsterdam around 1710, and were in circulation among musicians in Germany, such as Johann Sebastian Bach and his peers, probably inspiring the so-called English Suites, BWV 806-811, which were composed around 1715.
