Like JUMPER, REFLEX takes us back to the same world of teleportation. This time, unexpectedly, the jumper is Millie, Davy's now wife. The story revolves around a "corporation" that knows about Davy and kidnaps him to use as a lone terrorist. Forced through a bomb wired into his chest, Davy tries to fight back while kept a captive on Martha's Vineyard. Millie, working to find him discovers more than she bargained for.
This novel, like its predecessor, is an intimate story -intimate like THE BOURNE IDENTITY. It is a personal story. Millie and Davy are not sure who the good guys are and who are the bad ones. Manipulatoin comes from both sides. Everyone has an agenda.
Gould has a way with endangering everyday people (with one special talent). He lets the average joe work it out the hard way. The choices aren't simple and the knowledge that what needs to happen is dangerously close to becoming those you are fighting. He lets the underdog have his day.
