Adele "Delly" Dawson is a 15-year old girl who is struggling in the depression after her beloved mother dies in childbirth, finally giving her husband his coveted son. Her horrible step-father August Beck has tried several times to get rid of Delly, but Delly isn't afraid of him and continues to keep the house running, with the many, many 1/2 sisters and the newborn baby 1/2 brother. Every day is a struggle for Delly, but she has bigger plans, her momma wanted her to go back to West Virginia, where her Dawson family still remains.
Highly recommend it, it's a haunting story of a young girl coming into her own.
