Briefly let's examine these projections: By the year 2000, 85% of the American people will live in urban areas, 60% will have incomes in excess of 90% of the people will live on 1% of the land and the average work week will be 32 hours with two months paid vacation. The projection of the growth of our profession in the next five years indicates an increase of 57% in Federal recreation positions, 46% in state positions, and 26% in colleges and universities. By the year 1969, it is anticipated that new positions will be open for recreation and park leaders in the United States. Therefore it can be seen that the Recreator will have an increased responsibility in the changing America. Many opportunities will confront the.
