First edition (hardback). 8vo (25cm by 16cm), 452pp, iv [index, notice & erratum]. Frontispiece, 11 plates, 4 folding pedigrees, 3 folding maps (the maps are all hand-coloured, to varying degrees). Full brown calf, blindstamped boards, gilt titling to the spine. Binding rubbed and a little scuffed, bookplate to the front pastedown, preliminary pages foxed. Overall, this copy is in good plus condition.
